Primavera Sound concert 2011: Violet Lades

The primavera sound festival is full of concerts from national to international artists, famous or not, some are free and some not. Last friday, a spanish girl singer called Violet Lades gave a live concert in a place a little unusual but near to a Gaudi building.

But first, I will tell you more about her. Born in 1982 at Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Violeta Hernando Puig started to write when she was very young and published her first book in 1995. Later she decided to form her band called Violet Lades in 2006, like you can guess, all songs are written by her mixing blues and rock. Playing guitar meanwhile singing, she is accompanied by Eduardo Chirinos in bass and Toni Lopez in drums.

Living actually in Barcelona, she was called to participate to the festival and after accepted it, she gave a free concert at the sagrada familia metro station on friday 20 at 23h to present her first album called simply Violet Lades.

Although the place was not crowded, a lot of people came to watch her, people, like me, who knew that she would be there and others arrived by chance. After a quick interview with a journalist, she started her concert on time and during about 40 minutes, we enjoyed her performance.

Before and after the first song, she told us to come closer to the scene although we were not neither far away neither too close but I would say that there was a little empty space separating her from us. Personally it is not the kind of music I listen but I will say that I was surprised, she has a nice voice and even for people as me who doesn’t like this mix of rock and blues, songs are worth to listen.
